Day 1 | FULL DAY WINE TOUR – PERTH TO MARGARET RIVER
We travel south from Perth, driving out into the farmland and grazing cattle, before stopping to enjoy chocolate at Gabriels Chocolates. From there we have a photo stop at the quirky and picturesque town of Cowaramup, famous for the 42 life-sized fibreglass Friesian cows that are located throughout. After this brief stop, we venture onward to Providore, where you can sample the delicious nougat and gourmet nuts on offer.
Driving into the heart of Margaret River, we enjoy wine and nougat tastings at Bettenays Nougat company, before your included lunch at one of Margaret River’s famous wineries/breweries. Next, it’s on to Vasse Virgin, where you can sample a huge selection of soaps, oils and other products
Continuing our trip out to the coast, we take in the spectacular seascape views across the Indian Ocean from Canal Rocks, following the walkways out over these chiselled granite blocks to see the rushing ocean beneath.
Arriving at Busselton, known as the gateway to the Margaret River Region, we stop to view the iconic Busselton Jetty, the longest timber jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. (Please note there is not enough time at this stop to walk the full length of the jetty.) Finish your day with a dropoff to your accommodation at Abbey Beach Resort, for your dinner and overnight stay (LD),
Day 2 | MARGARET RIVER REGION TO PERTH
Enjoy a sleep-in and breakfast at your hotel before your checkout for a 11.00-11.30am departure. Continuing on for the day, we drive into the heart of the region, heading to one of Margaret River’s boutique breweries for lunch (venue may change due to force majeure) with complimentary beer and cider tastings. Following lunch, we enjoy further wine tasting from a selected winery (varies depending on availability), whilst gaining industry insights on wine production with the opportunity to purchase.
Next it’s on to Mammoth Cave for a guided tour through this gothic cave with vast chambers that reveal fascinating information on the region’s flora and fauna.
Continuing south, through the Boranup Forest of enormous Karri Trees, we reach the most fascinating part of the region at Augusta. Here at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, marvel at the dividing point between the Southern and Indian oceans – a rare phenomenon to view the meeting of two oceans. Then it is finally time for the return north, as we begin our drive back to Perth. (BL)
